The sanitary sewer project along with a new garbage contract topped the discussion last night by village officials in Hillcrest.
In a 5-0 vote, the board approved the engineering services with Baxter and Woodman from DeKalb for the sanitary sewer work on River Road and Ramona Avenue. Absent from last night's meeting was trustee Randy Salsbury.
Baxter and Woodman will be paid by the hour up to $115,200. The project for the 17 homes should be completed in 100 working days or some time next spring.
Building Inspector Casper Manheim mentioned that the village plans to have the International Code Council regulations in their ordinance by the end of the year. The minor changes are mostly for safety reasons as they begin January 1st of 2016.
Communities in northwest Illinois plan to be involved with the ICC codes.
Negotiations continue on a new contract with Northern Illinois Disposal as garbage rates will be increasing for homeowners. The new agreement is expected to begin January 1st.
The village also plans to hire a part-time water tech employee. The individual will work 20 hours a week and be paid up to $15 an hour.
The next monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, November 12th due to Veteran's Day on November 11th. Hillcrest officials also plan to meet in special session next month to talk about additional work on the sanitary sewer in the community along with future plans for a new water tower.
