DeKalb County officials have dropped 1 murder charge following the death of a Dekalb man this week during a drug deal.
23-year old Matthew Clark died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
25-year old Trevor Motsinger of DeKalb had been charged with 1st degree murder from the incident. That charge has been dropped after he cooperated with authorities.
He was also arrested on the charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Around an ounce of cocaine was found in his possession during the arrest.
25-year old Christopher Gerken of Sycamore has still been charged with 1st degree murder in the shooting.
Authorities say that Motsinger arranged the drug deal between Clark and Gerken. He knew that Gerken had planned to rob Clark because he was upset about a prior drug sale.
Gerken came to the meeting armed with a handgun. He remains in jail in lieu of a 2 million dollar bond.
