The approval of the bid for the farm property along with the sale of land to a local business topped the discussion last night for village officials in Creston.
The board approved the bid from Petry Farms at $50,754 for the farm property that totals 144.6 acres along Route 38 near the water tower.
The village received 2 other bids for the property. Petry Farms had the highest figure.
Creston Board President Tom Byro said that they were pleased with the numbers they received. He would like the next bid proposal to be a 3-year contract with the village.
The village plans to work with the Ogle County Highway Department dealing with seal coat work on the streets next year. Engineer Curtis Cook said that they do several villages in the county each year.
The village plans to sell 9,670 square feet of property along Depot Street to Hueber LLC. Byro said that they have no plans in the future to use the land.
The board met in executive session to talk about the price of the property. That figure was not made public at this time.
The village plans to flush their water hydrants on October 22nd and 23rd. Trick or Treat hours on Halloween will be from 5 until 8.
Next year's theme for the 60th Annual Booster Days in Creston will be "Honor the Veterans and the American Flag".
