Fiat Chrysler has acknowledged getting a strike notification from the United Auto Workers, but the company says contract talks continue. The UAW local for workers at the Belvidere plant postponed a contract vote that had been set for Tuesday.
The union now could either strike Fiat Chrysler plants, return to the bargaining table or turn their focus to Ford or General Motors, hoping that an agreement with one of them would provide a template for all three companies.
