Bond set for Rockford teen following altercation in Rochelle

An Ogle County judge set bond at $50,000 yesterday for a Rockford teen following a fight that took place early Sunday morning in the 11 hundred block of Avenue "B" in Rochelle.

18-year old Devin Joseph Griffith has been arrested on the felony offense of aggravated battery and the misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.

The teen was also wanted on a Winnebago County warrant for a probation violation.

The altercation took place a short time before 7 Sunday morning. The male victim suffered serious lacerations to his face which included an eye injury. He was transported by ambulance to a Rockford hospital for treatment.

It took local police along with the assistance from Ogle County Sheriff's Police and Illinois State Police around 2 hours to apprehend Griffith who was hiding from authorities following the incident.

The Rockford teen remains in jail in lieu of bond. He is scheduled to be back in court on Friday for an arraignment in Oregon.
