Rochelle police continue to investigate armed robbery

Rochelle Police continue to investigate an armed robbery reported to them Thursday night in the Hub City.

No one suffered any injuries.

The incident took place a short time after 9 near Sunnymead Drive and Short Court.

Reports indicate that a car with 2 black male subjects stopped near a group of individuals walking. The 2 got out of the car and allegedly demanded a watch, money, and a cell phone from 1 of male subjects in the group. A handgun was allegedly pointed at the victim

The 2 men then left the scene with a woman driving the car.

The vehicle was later stopped by NIU Police in DeKalb.

Rochelle Police Chief Eric Higby said that 1 of the black male subjects and the woman were in custody for a period of time. They have been released with no charges filed.

Higby said that the local detectives are interviewing witnesses from the alleged armed robbery and trying to identify the offender. He did say that they plan to get a search warrant and look for evidence in the car they were traveling in.

The incident remains under invesigation as no arrest has been made at this time.
