United Auto Workers members have rejected a tentative contract with Fiat Chrysler, meaning a return to the bargaining table. Although a final tally of national voting numbers is yet to be released, an overwhelming rejection of the contract by Belvidere Assembly workers essentially means its defeat.
Officials say the rejection could lead to strikes and Fiat Chrysler could threaten to move production of future vehicles outside of the United States. The Chrysler Council, consisting of local union presidents and bargaining chairs from across the country, are expected to meet in Warren today to discuss their next move.
