Rochelle City Council meeting

The approval of a sanitary sewer project and the renaming of Railroad Park after a former city employee topped the discussion last night for Rochelle officials.

The council first approve sanitary sewer work on Veteran's Parkway to the first manhole along South Main Street. The bid came in at just over $941,000.

The project totals just under 33 hundred feet.

The city plans to delay upgrades for the treatment plant involving nutrient removal to help pay for the sewer work.

City officials approved a resolution to have Railroad Park named after former Gredco Director Ken Wise. It was Ken's idea to have the park established in 1998. Gredco President Doug Zuehl.

The railroad park has thousands of visitors each year from around the United States and other countries.

The Rochelle City Council plans to meet as a "Committee of the Whole" next Monday evening at 6 for a strategic planning exercise. This gathering is open to the public.

Absent from last night's meeting were Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson and City Manager David Plyman.
