A Rochelle man made his 1st court appearance yesterday after shots were fired from a handgun early Sunday morning in the Hub City. No one suffered any injuries.
21-year old Mario Pineda has been arrested on the Class 4 felony offense of reckless discharge of a firearm and the misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
The arrest stems from a domestic incident in the 600 block of South 2nd Street. Pineda allegedly struck a woman in the face. The victim did not need any medical treatment.
At around 5:45 Sunday morning, the female victim along with her brother came to the home on South 2nd Street to confront Pineda about the altercation.
Police say that Pineda fired 2 shots from a handgun into the ground outside the residence during the confrontation.
An Ogle County judge set bond at $30,000 for the Rochelle man. Pineda returns to court on Friday for an arraignment.
He remains in jail in lieu of bond.
