A Hillcrest man is back on the streets today after being arrested on Monday following damage done to a corn field last Wednesday in Ogle County with a 4-wheel ATV.
25-year old Andrew Dorwaldt has been charged with the felony offense of obstruction and criminal damage to property.
Sheriff's police report that Dorwaldt was fleeing the deputies on the ATV and drove the vehicle into a corn field near the intersection of Hemstock and Knoll Roads. Police found the ATV the next day in a fence line. There was damage to more than a mile of standing corn.
Dorwaldt has also been charged with several traffic citations which includes aggravated fleeing to elude police and improper operation of an ATV.
He appeared in court for the 1st time yesterday as an Ogle County judge set bond at $20,000. Dorwaldt was able to post 10 percent of that figure and was released from jail.
He is scheduled to be back in court this Friday for a hearing in Oregon.
