City officials in Rochelle were hoping that the quiet zone project would have started by now dealing with the train horn issue.
A bid of just over $889,400 was approved by the council in July for the work on 10 railroad crossings in the Hub City.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson talked about the delay in the project.
He said that the problem deals with both the contractors and the railroads. This includes the 15th Street crossing.
Nearly 100 trains travel through Rochelle each day on the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroads.
Mayor Olso said that the project may have to be completed in the spring of 2016.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
