The vast majority of Illinois students fail to reach the Common Core standards in reading and math. Preliminary results released today from last spring's PARCC exams show that between 26- and 36-percent of third- through eighth-graders met or exceeded expectations in math.
Roughly 35-percent met the standard in language arts. In high schools, results were worse with just 17-percent meeting or exceeding standards in math and 31-percent in language arts.
