Negotiations continue today between representatives of Rock Valley College in Rockford and the teacher's union dealing with a new contract.
The agreement for the 160 union members expired in June. Salary and the cost of health insurance remain the key issues in the new contract.
Union members have said that if they do not see any progress in negotiations today, they will go on strike on Wednesday.
Bargaining teams met for 5 1/2 hours last Friday.
The teacher's union says that the college's current financial proposals would cause a significant number of faculty members to see a reduction in total compensation.
A federal mediator will be part of the negotiations today.
