Teachers at Rock Valley College in Rockford may be walking off their jobs this Wednesday if an agreement is not reached on a new contract.
Bargaining teams from the union and college met for 5 1/2 hours last Friday with no deal reached.
The teacher's union says that the board's current financial proposals would cause a significant number of faculty members to see a reduction in total compensation.
The contract for the 160 union individuals expired in June. Salary and the cost of health insurance remain the key issues in the new contract.
Negotiations will continue on Tuesday.
Rock Valley College celebrated their 50th anniversary last Saturday.
