Drivers are likely noticing that the roads are a little more packed this Labor Day weekend. Marie Montgomery with Triple-A says lower gas prices could give people more of a reason to take a holiday road trip.
With an average of two-dollars-47-cents a gallon, gas prices haven't been this low for a Labor Day weekend since 2004. Triple-A predicts that this Labor Day weekend will see the highest amount of travelers since 2008, with over 35-million people expected to journey at least 50 miles. It marks the fourth straight year of increased travel.
The low price in Rochelle today is $2.39 a gallon for unleaded fuel. That's 8 cents cheaper than the national average.
