Ogle County officials release name of 17-year old girl killed in crash on Friday

Ogle County Sheriff's Police have released the name of the 17-year old cheerleader from Stillman valley High School who suffered fatal injuries Friday afternoon in a car vs pick-up truck crash just south of Davis Junction.

Pronounced dead at a Rockford Hospital was Emily Fleming.

Fleming along with 2 other girls were in a car when the accident took place at the intersection of Illinois 251 and Big Mound Road. The vehicle collided with a pick-up truck traveling southbound. The truck then started on fire in a field.

The male driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff's police and the coroner have preliminary information on the identity of the individual and have been in contact with his family.

A positive identification of the man will be made in the next few days.

Sheriff's police say that it appears the car the girls were traveling in failed to stop at the intersection. There are only stop signs on Big Mound Road.

The 2 other Stillman Valley High School girls in the car received treatment for their injuries at a Rockford Hospital. They appear to be non-life threatening.

Counselors from the area were at the high school yesterday to help students and staff. They will also in the building on Tuesday.

The community will have a prayer vigil from 5 until 7 today at Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Stillman Valley.
