Police investigating the death of Fox Lake police Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz say video from a home security system could be significant. Police have not yet been able to view the enhanced version of the video, but the homeowner who turned it in said it shows three men who seem to match Gliniewicz's brief description: three males, two white, one black.
Police also confirmed that Gliniewicz's gun was recovered from the scene where his body was found.
A Lake County judge has set bail at 100-thousand-dollars for a woman accused of misdirecting police in their search for three suspected cop killers. Prosecutors say 30-year-old Kristin Kiefer of Vernon Hills made up the story about two men trying to get into her car then running into a field in Volo.
Her report touched off a search by about 85 police officers for clues in the Wednesday night death of Fox Lake Police Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz. The search was called off when police pressed Kiefer about her story and they say she admitted to fabricating it.
