Oregon officials change liquor sale hours for Sunday

In a 3-2 vote this week, city officials in Oregon approved a change in the ordinance dealing with the hours liquor can be sold on Sunday.

Package liquor can now be sold starting at 9 in the morning. Consumption of alcohol will not be allowed until 11 in the morning at businesses or clubs.

The old ordinance had the sale and consumption of alcohol starting at noon.

Voting against the proposal were Councilmen Jim Barnes and Kurt Wilson.

The city plans to update their comprehensive plan dealing with future growth in the community. Teska and Associates plans to do the work at a cost of $16,000.

In a 4-1 vote, the council rejected a request from the Chamber of Commerce to hold a wine tasting event at the Coliseum during Autumn on Parade. Mayor Ken Williams voted in favor of the idea.
