Rockford woman sentenced to 3 years in prison following altercation at Rochelle business

A Rockford woman has received a sentence of 3 years in the Department of Corrections following a confrontation last November in Rochelle with a store employee along with local police.

The incident took place at the Road Ranger at Illinois 251 and Route 38 during the early morning hours. 22-year old Cheyanne Patton tried to steal a case of beer from the store.

The altercation first involved the store employee and then Rochelle police during the arrest.

Patton pled guilty to disarming a peace officer and threatening a public official.

The charges of 2 counts of aggravated battery and escape were dismissed by the state due to the guilty plea.

No on suffered any serious injuries during the incident.
