City officials in Rochelle continue to move forward with the possibility of a tax increment financing district for the downtown and southern gateway areas.
The proposal includes the Hub Theater along with the building in the 400 block of 4th Avenue.
The council approved an ordinance last night dealing with an "Interested Parties Registry". Kon Savoy of Teska and Associates said that a "TIF" district for the downtown area would draw more businesses in the future along with residents.
A community informational meeting is scheduled for September 15th dealing with the "TIF" district.
The council is not expected to vote on the entire proposal until January or February of 2016.
The C-DAP grant was closed for the Nippon Sharyo project involving Shop 3. It totaled $750,000 for the electric feeder line.
City officials also approved a resolution dealing with motor fuel tax money for the Jack Dame Road overpass project.
City Engineer Sam Tesreau expects the project to cost over 20 million dollars.
The council met for a half hour in executive session to talk about personnel and pending litigation. No action was taken.
