Two 13-year-old Wisconsin girls entered not guilty pleas Friday to attempted murder charges stemming from their suspected stabbing attack on a classmate in order to please a fictitious horror character called Slender Man.
The girls are being tried as adults for the 2014 attack that left the 12-year-old near death with 19 stab wounds. Investigators say the girls believed they would please Slender Man with their attack and would be given rooms in his mansion.
One of their attorneys has indicated a defense involving mental incompetence is possible.
