Progress is being made for residents in rural Rochelle after a tornado ripped through their subdivision last April.
Many homes were damaged and even destroyed due to the winds that reached up to 200 miles per hour.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle, who's home was destroyed from the tornado, said that residents are moving forward in the neighborhood. He said that many families will be in their new homes by the end of the year. VanVickle expects to be in his house by the end of September.
He said 1 of the biggest losses from the storm were all the older trees blown down to the ground. VanVickle said he can see many of his neighbors now which he could not before the storm.
The sheriff said that area residents should take an inventory on their property inside their home in case it is destroyed by weather or even a fire. He said they should video tape their residence and then keep digital copy in a safe
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
Next week's guest will be Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson.
