RMU Electric Superintendent Jason Bird
City employees along with area residents attended an open house yesterday afternoon for Jason Bird who was recently hired as the new Superintendent of the Electrical Department at RMU.
The 51-year old Bird began his new job on Monday. He had spent the past 30 years in the electrical department for the city of Princeton. Bird was Superintendent of Electric and Telecommunications since 2007.
Bird said he made the career change due to his recent marriage as the couple lives in Elburn. He was also interested in working in a city with numerous electrical projects in the future.
Bird was surprised on the number of projects currently going on and in the future involving Rochelle. He said that the Princeton area had very little growth over the past few years in new businesses or housing.
Bird grew up in Princeton and coached wrestling and soccer for 29 years at the high school.
He said that the future growth for RMU in the electric department centers around industries and commercial businesses at the present time.
