Ogle County Sheriff's Police continue to work on drug cases

When you talk about the crime rate for Ogle County, Sheriff Brian VanVickle said that the sale of drugs, especially heroin, remains a problem in the area.

Since being sworn into office last December, VanVickle has been faced with a tornado and snow storm along with moving into a new administration building known as the Ogle County Public Safety Complex.

During yesterday's program "Let The People Know", VanVickle said that the drug problem remains a concern with his officers. He said much of the problems are coming from Rockford involving new drug cases.

VanVickle said that burglaries are down this year, but domestic altercations have seen a slight increase in numbers.

The department has responded to just under 31,000 calls this year which is about 1,000 more than in 2014 at this time.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast on Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
