RTHS district will have a balanced budget this fiscal year

The Rochelle Township High School district is looking at a balanced budget when numbers are approved later this fall. There will be a deficit in 2 funds.

Superintendent Jamie Craven said that the Education Fund will have a deficit of $189,585 along with the Building Fund at $17,500.

The board will meet in special session on September 8th at 5:30 to have a budget workshop for the new fiscal year.

School officials heard an update report on the improvement goals for the district. They included an increase in student growth, career awareness, along with community connections with parents, feeder schools, and Kishwaukee Community College in Malta.

The district must also improve in the teaching and learning process for the students.

The board approved to dissovle the Parent Resource Network for the present time. Craven said that a smaller size group will be formed later this fall.

2 former staff members will be remembered for future years. A memorial tree was planted near the Media Center for long-time librarian Debby Van Dyke.

There will also be a memorial bench in front of the music area for former teacher Rosalia Stotmeister. She taught at RTHS for 34 years before her retirement.
