Rochelle City Council Meeting

Quiet Zones to mitigate train noise in the city moved forward at last night’s Rochelle City Council meeting.  The Council approved a proposal from Fehr Graham for professional construction services associated with the Quiet Zone improvements.  Construction on the Quiet Zone improvements is expected to begin later this month with a substantial portion of the completion by the end of November.  The Project is being funded through General Obligation Debt Certificates issued on July 7th for $2 million.

Also at last night’s meeting the Council approved the purchase of a 2015 street sweeper through the National Joint Powers Alliance in the amount of $189,955, minus a trade in allowance of $14,500 for a net purchase price of $175,455.

The Council also held a public hearing on a proposed solar farm to be located on the south side of the landfill, parallel to Creston Road, at the top of the berm with panels facing to the south.  It was pointed out that the original agreement had trees being placed in that location by the landfill.  The Council will continue this discussion at the August 24th meeting.

The Council also approved the Rochelle Township High School Homecoming Parade on October 1st, and approved the annual Trick or Treat on October 31st from 5 until 8.
