Most teens are not getting enough sleep because of early school start times. The American Academy of Pediatrics is pushing for middle schools and high schools to start class no earlier than 8:30 a.m. They say teens are biologically programmed to stay up later than adults and the later start time will allow the recommended eight to nine-and-a-half hours of sleep. A new CDC report says teens who don't get enough sleep have a higher risk for being overweight and depressed, and to use alcohol and drugs.
