Residents in the Village of Creston can see some patch work being done on their streets later this month.
The board talked about the project last night. Board President Tom Byro said that the work is scheduled to begin around August 18th.
Village officials approved the planned development application for Hueber LLC. They plan to construct a building where they can do maintenance work on their semi-trucks.
Garbage and recycling rates will be going up by 5 cents. The total cost will now be $12 per month.
The board talked again about the possibility of a quiet zone in Creston dealing with the train horn issue.
There are currently 3 railroad crossings in the village used by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and the Union Pacific Railroads. Around 70 trains travel through the community each day.
The project is expected to cost around $250,000. They would need residents in the village to help pay off the bonds for the work. An advisory referendum may be placed on the March 2016 ballot.
No final decisions were made on the project last night.
