Over 100 area and local school officials and residents heard a presentation last night from Ralph Martire who is the Executive Director of the Center of Tax and Budget Accountability.
He talked about the financial issues facing the state dealing with education funding and persions.
Martire said that the lack of revenue remains a major problem in the state as he also believes in tax reform.
Lawmakers and Governor Rauner have yet to approve a new budget for the fiscal year. Martire said that it's frustrating to watch what is happening in Springfield at the present time.
Martire talked about state issues from a non-partisan perspective. He said that an agreement needs to be made between both political parties in Illinois along with the Governor.
Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs also gave a presentation last night dealing with the budget.
