2 arrested in Ogle County following armed robberies in Savanna and Clinton, Iowa

Following a high speed vehicle chase last night, Ogle County Sheriff's Police arrested a Rockford man along with a 15-year old boy, also from Rockford, following armed robberies that took place earlier in the day in Savanna and Clinton, Iowa.

Sheriff's police picked up the pursuit east of Route 64 and south of Route 52. At the intersection of Route 52 and Route 26, a crash took place between squad cars from Carroll County and Lanark Police. No injuries were reported.

The chase continued on Route 26 to Route 64 into the city of Oregon. The vehicle finally stopped at the intersection of Route 64 and Daysville Road due to stop sticks on the road and a crash with a Milledgeville Police squad car.

The 2 suspects, 25-year old Aaron Watson and the 15-year old teen, fled their car on foot. They were arrested a short time later by the Ogle County K-9 unit.

Watson has been arrested on the charge of aggravated fleeing to elude police, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license. He was also wanted on 2 Rockford warrants.

The 15 year old was arrested on the charge of resisting arrest and pending charges for armed robbery and felony theft.

Both remain in the Ogle County jail on the felony charges.

Ogle County officials are working with Savanna, Freeport and Clinton,Iowa Police Departments along with Carroll County Sheriff's Police dealing with the felony theft incident.

Assisting in the arrest last night were police agencies from Oregon, Mt. Morris, and Lee County.
