Ogle County Sheriff's Police look for a male subject who impersonated an officer

Ogle County Sheriff's Police continue to look for a male suspect who allegedly impersonated an officer from the department this week.

Reports indicate that at around 10 Monday night in rural Oregon, the male individual arrived at the home and identified himself as being with the Ogle County Sheriff's Department.

The man had a deep voice with a southern accent and told the resident that he needed to search the home to look for a missing person. After several minutes in trying to convince the person he needed to go into the residence, he left the area.

The male suspect is described as a white individual in his later 20's or early 30's, about 5-10 in height with a very thin build. He had dark brown or black hair with a small amount of hair on his chin.

The man was wearing eyeglasses and an earing in his right ear. He also wore a dark blue or black uniform with a button up long sleeve shirt and a patch on his left chest area.

He also wore black dress shoes and a belt with attached a flashlight and handcuff case.

Sheriff's police say that the suspect was driving a white or gray older style squad car vehicle, possibly a 4-door Ford Crown Victoria.

If anyone has information about this male subject, they should call the Ogle County Sheriff's Department at 732-2136. They can also call crime stoppers at 1-888-288-4488. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information which leads to an arrest in the case.
