The Oregon School District Board met on Monday night. It was reported that the District had an end of the year surplus of $2 million dollars. That is because the county gave a payment for this year during last fiscal year. Without that payment the District would have had a deficit of 1.4 million dollars.
The Board also approved the student admission policy Monday night. That policy will wave the admission fee for students to attend activities and athletics this coming school year.
A new teacher and two aids were hired during the meeting, and the Board hired two assistant volleyball coaches, one for the high school and one for the junior high.
The Oregon School Board also promoted an event on August 4th at Rochelle Township High School. The event will be about how the State of Illinois finances schools. Representatives from the Senate for Tax and Budget Accountability and from the Illinois Policy Institute, along with State Legislators will be in attendance to discuss the issue. The meeting will be from 6 to 8pm on August 4th.
