After a lengthy discussion, The Flagg Rochelle Park District Board approved a $50,000 payment to GREDCO for the 2015 operation of the Fairways Golf Course. The Board approved it on a 4-2 vote with Commisioners Bunger and Carmichael voting no. The City of Rochelle had earlier approved a $50,000 payment for the golf course.
City Manager David Plyman also presented to the Board a proposed plan to sell the restaurant portion of the land, but needs park district approval to do that. Plyman said a local restaurant operator has expressed interest, but if the plan proceeds it would be open to solicit any new business that might be interested. The Board seemed in favor of this move and Plyman will further work on a possible proposal and begin the legal work.
The Park District and the City are in the third year of a five year agreement on owning the golf course which is currently operate by GREDCO.
Also last night the Flagg Township Museum made a presentation and requested a renewal of a 5 year agreement for funding. The current agreement ends this month and is for $25,000 per year. No action was taken.
The Rochelle Elementary District made a presentation to the Board on the Hub Project. The Project is fully funded for this year but for its 5th year is in need of funding. Superintendent Todd Prusator asked the Park District to consider a $10,000 donation. No action was taken last night.
The Board also passed the Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Audit. And the Park Board approved several improvement projects including construction of a replacement structure at Skare Park, the sealing of the Kidsground Playground at Cooper Park and the painting of the Spring Lake Bathhouse.
