Appellate court says state workers can be paid

Governor Bruce Rauner is the victor Friday in the ongoing battle of the budget. An appellate court ruling has overturned the decision of a Cook County judge and appears to pave the way for the state to continue paying all of its workers, despite the fact that no budget is in place.

State Comptroller Leslie Munger had continued to send out paychecks, based on the ruling of a St. Clair county judge. The issue may ultimately end up before the Illinois Supreme Court.
