Rockford is one of 27 cities around the country where some low-income households will get access to high speed internet. The ConnectHome initiative is a joint effort involving local governments, the private sector and the federal government.
It will bring broadband access, technical training, digital literacy programs and equipment to more than 275-thousand homes. One goal is to eliminate the educational disadvantage of children in low-income homes that don't have broadband access
