Rochelle City Council meeting tonight

The train horn issue, pedestrian signals and sidewalk ramps at Route 38 and Lincoln Highway, along with sanitary sewer work near the hospital tops the discussion this evening for city officials in Rochelle.

The council meeting begins at 7.

The quiet zone project in Rochelle involves 10 different locations involving the railroads in the Hub City. The bid for the work totals just over $889,400.

Nearly 100 trains travel through Rochelle each day on the 2 railroads.

The project at Route 38 and Lincoln Highway for the pedestrian signals and sidewalk ramps totals $98,670.

The sanitary sewer work for the addition at Rochelle Community Hospital comes in at just over $309,000. The hospital will pay $228,000 under an agreement with the city.

A compactor excavator for the Street and Cemetery Departments along with a security door for the RMU generation facility are also expected to be approved tonight.

The Rochelle City Council meeting is open to the public.
