2 baby horned owls rescued 5 days after the April 9th tornado hit rural Rochelle will be released back to Skare Park this evening at 7:30.
The owlets were found weak and nesting in an uprooted oak tree following the tornado. They were to young to fly and were taken to the Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab and Education facility in Loves Park.
A spokesperson for the Raptor Rehab says that the owls are now juveniles and ready to be released. They are both aggressive and have been trained on "live prey" in anticipation of them leaving the facility in Loves Park.
Once again, the 2 horned owls will be released at Skare Park this evening at 7:30.
