Gredco continues to help Rochelle in drawing industries for the community

A non-profit organization that has been involved in economic development since 1979 continues to help the City of Rochelle dealing with future businesses.

The Greater Rochelle Economic Development Corporation, also known as "Gredco", works with city officials in bringing new businesses and jobs for area residents.

They have a board that currently has 13 members who are involved with the decision process. There have been a total of 65 individuals on the Gredco board since 1979.

During yesterday's program "Let The People Know", former Gredco President Lee Prunty, now an advisor to the group, talked about what businesses are looking for when they come into a community like Rochelle.

The lists includes number of available workers, banks, schools, churches, and healthcare.

Board member Dale Meyers joined Prunty on the program. He talked about the difference between Gredco and city officials when it comes to bringing a business to the community.

He said that Gredco operates at the speed for businesses when it comes to locations in the city.

The current director of Gredco is Jason Anderson.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
