The Illinois courts are going to get involved in the budget battle between Governor Rauner and the Democrats who control the General Assembly. Attorney General Lisa Madigan is asking the court to clarify if state workers can get their paychecks and other bills can be paid without a new budget in place.
Madigan has said she thinks those paychecks can't be issued, disagreeing with Rauner who asserts they can under a previous court ruling. Madigan says that case wasn't a precedent and she wants clarification from the court.
