Woodhaven Lakes opened yesterday for the 1st time since tornado hit campground

Woodhaven Lakes camping resort in Sublette opened for the 1st time Saturday to the public since the area was hit last Monday night by a tornado.

The campground has 6,144 lots and around 300 were occupied when the high winds struck Lee County last week. Numerous campers and buildings were damaged from the tornado along with trees blown down to the ground.

There will be several sections of the campground still closed to the public and traffic not allowed. Property owners in these areas will be notified with instructions on how they may access to their properties.

The Lee County Sheriff's Police will continue to patrol the camping area along with area fire departments.

Cleanup efforts will continue for the next several weeks in the area.
