2 truck drivers suffered injuries yesterday afternoon after 3 semi's collided in a chain-reaction crash on I-39 in rural Rochelle.
The accident took place near the construction zone area in the southbound lane a short time after 3 just north of the Hub City.
Reports indicate that a truck driver from Wisconsin failed to stop in time and struck the back of another semi. That vehicle was then pushed into another semi-truck which was stopped in traffic.
The Wisconsin man suffered injuries to his head, arm, and leg. He was flown from the scene by helicopter to a Rockford hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A woman from California was driving 1 of the semi's and received treatment for minor injuries at Rochelle Community Hospital.
The 3rd truck driver refused medical treatment at the scene.
Traffic was backed up in the southbound lane of I-39 near Rochelle for a period of time while emergency crews were on the scene. 1 driver was extricated from his cab area.
Traffic was also detoured to Illinois 251 North through Rochelle following the crash.
