Clean-up continues today in Lee County following Monday's tornado

The clean-up continues today for sections of Lee County which was struck by a tornado Monday night.

The hardest hit area was the Woodhaven Lakes private camping resort in Sublette. 1 person suffered an head injury and needed medical treatment. 4 other people had minor injuries.

There were reports of several campers damaged along with trees blown to the ground.

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner declared 2 counties in Northern Illinois disaster areas following Monday's tornado...

The community of Coal City had numerous homes destroyed or damaged from the storm.

Rauner talked about the damage done at Woodhaven Lakes...

He also stressed his concerned over the campground area yesterday....

The American Red Cross has set up a shelter area in Sublette following the tornado on Monday night. It's located at the Ellice Dinges Center on South West Street.

You can also donate money to the Red Cross for the victims of the tornado.

The campground has 6,144 lots and around 300 were occupied when the tornado struck. No one is reported missing.

Lee County officials believe about a third of the properties at the camground suffered damage due to the high winds.

Working with the United Way of Lee County, Farmers State Bank in Sublette is accepting financial donations and gift cards for the victims of the tornado.

The Salvation Army has set up a Mobile Canteen in Woodhaven Lakes and is providing food and water to emergency responders on the scene.
