Dale Meyers and Doug Zuehl from Gredco
Following a 6-1 vote last night, city officials in Rochelle approved $50,000 for operations involving the remaining portion of the season at Fairways Golf Course. Voting against the proposal was Councilman Dan McDermott.
Mayor Chet Olson said that they need to keep this facility open for the next few years.
Gredco is currently managing the golf course. Board member Dale Meyers said that the money will be used for the day to day operations at the golf course.
Last week, Rochelle park officials tabled the proposal as they have also been asked to contribute $50,000 for the remainder of the golf season.
Mayor Olson also talked about a possible future restaurant at the facility. The business would either lease or own the building.
Engineering costs for phase 2 of the Jack Dame Road overpass totals around $325,000. Construction for the 18 million dollar project is expected to begin late in 2018.
The city is moving forward with a "TIF" district in the downtown area along with the southern gateway to Rochelle. They are working with Teska and Associates out of Evanston.
The "TIF" district would include the Hub Theater, the building on 4th Avenue, along with a possible plaza and public market along Main Street.
