Recovery process moving slow for some families following April's tornado

Progress may be moving slow, but the recovery process continues for victims of the tornado in Ogle Conty that hit on April 9th.

The Long Term Recovery Commitee has been working with 79 families from the subdivision to area farms in dealing with damage from the storm. During this week's program "Let The People Know", Committee Chairman Cal Jacobs of Rochelle said things have been moving slowly.

He mentioned that he is surprised of the slow process in working with the insurance companies. Many families are having trouble to remembering everthing they lost in the tornado.

Ogle County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Richter joined Jacobs on the show. He said it's tough to have records on all items that were lost. He stressed that the family and insurance company need to work together in this process.

$300,000 has been raised so far in the tornado relief fund. Some of that money is expected to be released to the families later this summer.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast on Saturday morning at 6 on Newstak 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".

The program will not be heard next Wednesday due to the White Sox game with Minnesota. "Let The People Know" returns on July 1st as we talk about programs being offered by RMU.
