A Rochelle man was back in Ogle County court yesterday for a preliminary hearing after being arrested twice in the past 7 months on drug charges.
24-year old Shane Albers remains in jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
The 1st arrest took place on November 22nd of last year. Albers was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, codeine, and possession of cannabis.
The 2nd arrest occurred on June 4th during a traffic stop. Albers was charged this time with unlawful possession of heroin and along with marijuana.
In court yesterday, Albers pled not guilty to the charges and waived his preliminary hearing. He returns to Ogle County court on July 13th for a pre-trial conference.
Albers' attorney has also asked that he be screened for the drug court program.
