Park officials in Rochelle tabled a request last night from Gredco for $50,000 involving the operations at the Fairways Golf Course. The proposal was also given to city officials in Rochelle who have yet to make a final decision.
Park Board President Roger Bunger said that the commissioners are concerned about the future of the land.
Last month, Gredco officials told the board that they would pick up the final 2 years of their option to manage the Fairways Golf Course if the park district and the city each gave $50,000 this year and in 2016 and 2017. That proposal has changed said Bunger as Gredco has not committed anything after this year.
The city council may talk about this issue next Monday night.
The park district is looking at a possible shelter at Connolly Park. They are talking with the Kiwanis Club about the project.
The AYSO program also plans to talk with Rochelle Elementary District officials about land near Lincoln School so they would have 1 site for their soccer games.
Executive Park District Director Eric Christensen said that the main path is open near Skare Court following last April's tornado. They are also looking into a new shelter and restrooms for the driving range at Skare Park. The former building was destroyed following the tornado.
Teen Town will be the future home for Rochelle Rotary Club meetings. They will pay $40 for the 2 hours use of the facility on Tuesday afternoons.
Park officials met in executive session to interview 2 of the 3 candidates for the open park board position. No action was taken.
