Fatal crash remains under investigation in Ogle County

Ogle County Sheriff's Police continue to investigate a single vehicle crash that took place Wednesday night that claimed the life of a Rochelle teen.

19-year old Anna Speed, a 2014 graduate of Rochelle Township High School and who had just
finished her 1st year in college, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident took place in the 18,000 block of East Gilis Road, northeast of Creston. A 2004 Jeep driven by 19-year old Emily Jahnke of Rochelle was traveling eastbound and left the north side of the road. The jeep then struck a utility pole.

Jahnke along with a front passenger in the vehicle, 19-year old Anna Craven of Rochelle, were ejected from the jeep. Both received treatment of non-life threatening injuries at area hospitals.

Speed was a back passenger in the jeep.

Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle said that no arrests have been at this time as they are waiting for results from the lab. Ogle County State's Attorney Eric Morrow said that the incident remains under investigation involving his office.
