The Village of Hillcrest has a new trustee.
Jason Fore was appointed to the 2-year term last night. The vote was 4-0 as Trustee Rich Elliott was absent from the meeting.
Fore ran unsuccessful for village board president in 2011. He currently works as a fireman in the city of DeKalb.
The board heard an update report last night on the sanitary sewer project. Bids will be going out in July for the work involving the $450,000 C-DAP grant. The project involves River Road to Linda Avenue and then work on Linda Avenue. The village hopes the construction can begin sometime in Spetember.
The Village is still waiting for a decision on their Illinois EPA loan for additional sanitary sewer in Hillcrest.
Reappointed last night were Police Chief Danny White and Building Inspector Casper Manheim.
The village plans to go out for bids involving solid waste removal. Northern Illinois Disposal currently picks up garbage in the village.
The deadline for bids will be August 5th. Village officials are looking at possible curbside recycling at homes. There is a recycling area currently at the Village Hall building.
Following an executive session, Village Clerk Patty Moreno will now work on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30 until 11:30 along with her hours the other 3 days of the week. Her last Saturday will be this weekend.
The annual clean-up day for Hillcrest will take place on July 11th. A vet will be at the village hall building to handle dog and cat Cases.
