A Genoa man suffered serious injuries yesterday afternoon when he crashed his car into the Malta Cemetery in an alcohol related incident. Reports indicate that 42-year old Norberto Hernandez Arreola was traveling eastbound on Route 38 when the car crossed the center line and into the Malta cemetery before it came to a stop. Hernandez Arreola was transported by helicopter to a Rockford hospital for treatment of his injuries.
DeKalb County Sheriff's Police say that he was arrested on the charge of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, and improper lane usage. Hernandez Arreola was released at the Rockford hospital by sheriff's police on an individual bond and will appear in DeKalb County court on the charges at a later date.
