The north bus barn project for Rochelle Township High School has been delayed due to the lack of bids for the work by area businesses.
The board had hoped to approve the bids for the renovation work this week. Superintendent Jamie Craven said that they knew there were other construction projects in the area along with the bus barn work.
The district has decided to get new bids for the project. They will be opened on June 2nd with a special board meeting on June 3rd at 5pm.
The project includes a new roof, siding repair, along with an isolated bay area to work on the busses and new overhead doors. The completion date has now been set for September 18th. It had been August 28th.
The board approved a 3-year tax abatement request from Gredco for "Project Green". It would be a 7 million dollar capital investment for the city with 20 to 22 jobs. The annual salaries would range from 20,000 to 30,000 dollars for the new company.
School officials also approved the assessment settlement involving Americold which totaled 5.1 million dollars for the tax years of 2014, 2015, and 2016.
The board met in executive session to talk about the teacher's contract. Negotiations have begun on a new deal. No action was taken.
